Ingredients
- 1 large or 2 small bottle gourd / Lauki / Doodhi
- 1 cup Channa dal soaked for 1 hour
- 1 large onion
- 2 medium tomatoes
- 1 clove
- 1 inch cinnamon
- 3 garlic cloves
- A piece if ginger
- 1 teaspoon chilli powder
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric
- Lots of coriander for garnishing
- Salt to taste
- 1 tablespoon oil
- Water to cook
- In a pressure cooker saute clove, cinnamon and then garlic, ginger and onion.
- Add tomatoes and fry a little.
- Cut bottlegourd into cubes.
- Add to the onion mixture along with the soaked channa dal.
- Add chilli and turmeric powders and salt.
- Pour enough water to cover the vegetables.
- Pressure cook for 15 minutes or till done.
- Garnish with coriander.
