Gholar Dal
Recipe Ingredients
- Bengal Gram Dal - 250 gms.
- Coconut - 1/2 .
- Cummin Seed - 1 tsp.
- Red Chilli Whole - 4 Nos.
- Asafoetida - a pinch
- Sugar - 1 tsp., Salt to taste
- Vanaspati - 50 gms.
- Bay Leaves - 2 Nos.
- Soda - a pinch.
- Soak the dal in a soda for about 1 hour.
- Boil dal with bay leaves and salt till cooked. Make sure it is not fully mashed.
- Cut coconut into small dices and fry in vanaspati till golden brown.
- Prepare a tempering by heating vanaspati in a frying pan and adding cummin seeds, red chilli whole and asafoetida.
- Add this to the dal. Add the coconut and sugar and cook for another 2 minutes.
